Homes for Scotland is THE voice of the home building industry in Scotland, representing some 200 companies and organisations which together deliver 95% of new homes built for sale each year and a significant proportion of affordable housing.
We are committed to improving the quality of living in Scotland by providing this and future generations of Scots with warm, energy-efficient, sustainable homes in places people WANT to live.
Our aim is to foster the conditions necessary to enable the home building industry to prosper and make a significant contribution to Scotland's social, economic and environmental well-being.
BUT, with housing production having slumped by 40% since 2007, the scale of this challenge is huge. This is starkly demonstrated by the fact that only 16,000 new homes were built in 2015, some 54% less than the 35,000 new homes the Scottish Government wished to see being delivered by this time in order to meet housing demand and tackle house price inflation.
