The Scottish Government set a clear challenge within its Sustainable Housing Strategy for a low carbon home building industry.
Within the ‘New Build Market Transformation’ chapter of the strategy, focus is given to the opportunities to utilise modern methods of construction as a means for the industry to meet the demand for new sustainable, low carbon, energy efficient homes. Homes for Scotland is therefore conducting a study to explore the views and attitudes of home builders towards the mainstream adoption of proven modern methods of construction. The main aim of the research is to identify the drivers, barriers and resource gaps influencing the decision-making processes of developers on the use of modern methods or off-site construction. The final report was published in September 2015 and can be accessed here.
