Annual Lunch 2015

A record-breaking crowd of some 900 guests joined us for our 2015 Annual Lunch and Awards at the EICC on Friday 15 May, demonstrating its stature and position as the premier event in the Scottish home building industry calendar.

And there was a great atmosphere from the start with guests getting directly involved and posting messages and photos to our Twitter wall throughout the afternoon.

Hosted by BBC Scotland political correspondent Glenn Campbell, new HFS Chair Jim Mather called for the "evolution" of the hugely successful Help to Buy (Scotland) shared equity scheme (which to date has resulted in 5000 sales worth £1bn) so that the positive progress that has been made in supporting buyers, stimulating the building of new homes and creating jobs can be maintained.

Responding, Housing Minister Margaret Burgess stated the Scottish Government's commitment to increasing supply across all tenures in order to deliver a strong, sustainable economy and support a fairer society.

After lunch, Gordon Strachan had the audience in stitches with tales from his legendary footballing career before the winners of this year's awards were announced. Guests celebrated with a glass of champagne kindly supplied by Mactaggart & Mickel to mark its 90 years of home building.
