2015 Awards open for entries

Entries for the premier awards programme showcasing the achievements of Scotland’s home building industry are now being sought following the launch of Homes for Scotland’s 2015 awards scheme.

With the sector facing a number of challenges which continue to hamper its ability to provide the thousands of homes of all tenures desperately needed across the country, this year’s programme focuses on the theme of “Foundations for the Future”, celebrating the efforts which have been made in order to ensure the strongest possible platform for sustained recovery.

Building upon the success of last year’s scheme, which attracted a record number of entries, categories for this year’s awards continue to reflect the areas of greatest industry importance.

Submissions from Homes for Scotland members are welcomed in the following categories:

•    Best Employer
•    Employee of the Year (sponsored by Clancy Docwra)
•    Best Customer Service Initiative
•    Best Partnership in Affordable Housing Delivery (sponsored by Forster Roofing)
•    Best Home Design (sponsored by Registers of Scotland)
•    Best Development – large (26+ units) (sponsored by NHBC)
•    Best Development – medium (11-25 units) (sponsored by ZPG)
•    Best Development – small (up to ten units) (sponsored by Allied Surveyors Scotland)
•    Best Supporting Company

In addition, the independent judging panel, chaired by Mike Galloway, Director of City Development at Dundee City Council, will also decide upon the prestigious Home Builder of the Year whilst the Homes for Scotland Executive Committee will consider the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award (sponsored by Ground Developments Ltd).

Winners will be announced at the Homes for Scotland Annual Lunch at the EICC on Friday 15 May 2015 at which Alex Neil, Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Communities and Pensioners’ Rights will provide the keynote address.

Now entering its 13th year, it is the largest such industry gathering attracting over 800 guests in 2014 and with more than 500 bookings already confirmed for 2015.

Chief Executive Philip Hogg said:

“Recognising and promoting best practice, the Homes for Scotland awards stand alone in demonstrating the commitment of our members to not only raise standards across the industry, but also overcome the barriers impeding the building of much needed homes of all tenures across the country.

“Remaining unrivalled in terms of standing and credibility, the wide spectrum of categories for this year’s scheme covers commitment to customer service, partnership working and the place-making agenda as well as celebrating the individuals making a real difference in our industry.”
