Home building industry body Homes for Scotland (HFS) has announced the internal appointment of Nicola Barclay (right) as its new Chief Executive.
The appointment takes effect from 1 February 2016 when current Director of Planning Nicola will assume responsibility for leading the organisation which has a membership of some 200 companies delivering 95% of new homes built for sale in Scotland as well as a significant proportion of affordable housing. Nicola’s career in the home building industry spans over 20 years and covers a number of areas including sales, land and planning. Together with her in-depth understanding of the trade body’s key political asks in the run-up to next year’s Scottish parliamentary election, she is well placed to take the trade body forward during this crucial period, ensuring continuity of purpose and said: “Never before has housing been so in the spotlight so I fully recognise I’m taking on this role at a pivotal time for our industry. I believe that we all need to work together to deliver more homes of all types across the country and look forward to the challenge of achieving this over the coming months and years.” HFS Chair Jim Mather said: “We are absolutely delighted to have appointed someone of Nicola’s drive and industry standing. Extremely well respected by both members and other stakeholders, she will bring fresh energy and insight to our work. This will ensure our members are best able to work with others and attract the necessary resources to deliver many more homes of all tenures thereby helping to improve the lives of thousands of people and the strength of the Scottish economy.”
