Scottish Housing Day

Scottish Housing Day 2020

2020 marks the fifth year of celebrating housing in Scotland with Scottish Housing Day. This year we’re talking about the value of social housing. We all know a safe, secure, warm, good quality, affordable home is vital to wellbeing. The current COVID pandemic has more than ever made it clear how important social housing is so we want you to take part in the day and share your thoughts and experiences around the value of social housing.

The below examples highlight the role the industry as a whole plays in facilitating and delivering social housing, demonstrating how closely sectors work together across tenures.

Campion Homes Case Study
For over 30 years Campion Homes have been building high quality homes on behalf of Housing Associations and local authorities. Implementing design standards to provide flexible accommodation for people’s different requirements and circumstances, engaging with communities and creating apprenticeships have allowed Campion Homes to continue and deliver exceptional quality and design.

CCG Homes Case Study
Shortlisted at this year’s Homes for Scotland Awards, Bell Street Stables from CCG Homes has been converted on behalf of Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) and Lowther Homes, members of the Wheatley Group, delivering 52 mid-market rent flats. Benefits to the community include five full-time jobs, three trade apprenticeships and five work placements, curriculum support for pupils and lecturers of Glasgow Kelvin College and a donation of works toward the re-painting of a local care home.

Keepmoat Homes Case Study
Keepmoat Homes and North Lanarkshire Council delivered affordable homes for rent in spring 2020, to almost a dozen families in the Clyde Valley. The Castings, a Keepmoat Homes development in Motherwell, provided 11 new homes for rent as part of a holistic design.  Keepmoat Homes also partnered with Knowetop Primary School, to support its pupils’ health and wellbeing programme and raise awareness of site safety.
