As the voice of the country's home building industry, HFS is committed to improving the quality of living in Scotland by providing this and future generations with warm, sustainable homes in places people want to live.
Yet official statistics show a sixth consecutive annual fall in housing output with total completions in 2013 at 14,815 - more than a 40% drop since 2007 and the lowest level since 1947. This is some 20,000 short of the 35,000 new homes the Scottish Government wished to see being built each year by 2015 in order to address demand and impact house price inflation.
Building on the success of previous HFS events, our 2014 conference, held in Edinburgh on 30 October, provided one of the first opportunities for the industry to discuss housing supply following the independence vote.
Focusing on the key areas which must be addressed if production across all tenures is to be increased, the conference attracted over 120 senior level delegates from home builders, RSLs, the supply chain, local authorities and other associated organisations,
