NHT model to deliver hundreds of new affordable homes for rent

Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure and Capital Investment Alex Neil confirmed today that the National Housing Trust initiative, led by the Scottish Government and Scottish Futures Trust is making significant progress in the delivery of hundreds of new affordable homes for rent at below market rates.

The first contracts have been signed with developers for almost 100 homes across two Council areas – Scottish Borders and Highland.

Homes for Scotland's Chief Executive Jonathan Fair (right) said: 

"I am delighted to see the first contracts signed for delivery under the National Housing Trust model, and I am particularly pleased that these first two contracts have benefited Homes for Scotland members, as our members and Board have engaged with the model and the strategic thinking that sits behind it from its inception. 

"We look forward to working with SFT and the Scottish Government on future phases."
