Home building industry body Homes for Scotland has announced the appointment of Philip Hogg as its new Chief Executive. The appointment takes effect from 30 April when Philip will assume responsibility for leading the organisation which has a membership of over 160 companies delivering 95% of new homes built for sale in Scotland as well as a significant proportion of affordable housing. With a career spanning over 25 years, Philip is well placed to deal with the significant challenges which home builders continue to face as they strive to recover from the economic downturn. These include driving higher loan to value ratio lending back into the mortgage mainstream for those who can sustainably afford such products, gaining public and political understanding on and support for alternative and more effective and cost-efficient ways of achieving low carbon targets, and ensuring that local authorities deliver an effective land supply. In addition to addressing these and the myriad of other issues impacting the industry, Philip will also bring a strong customer focus to his new role, having most recently been involved in the development of specialist research and feedback tools to provide builders with vital buyer insight through his own consultancy. Prior to this he enjoyed ten years as UK Marketing Director with a major national home builder. Relishing the task ahead, Philip said: "This is an exciting opportunity and I look forward to taking on the role. I am deeply aware of the challenges that face the industry and, with the assistance of a committed team, will be working tirelessly to support Homes for Scotland members deliver the many thousands of new homes which are desperately needed across all tenures.” Homes for Scotland Chairman Doug McLeod said: “We are absolutely delighted to have appointed someone of Philip’s expertise and industry standing. He is an extremely well respected figure and will bring a fresh energy to our organisation as we look to continue delivering on the issues which make a vital difference to our members’ businesses.”
