Keith Brown MSP, the Minister for Housing and Transport, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the first Homes for Scotland conference to be held at The Corn Exchange, Edinburgh on 31 October. The conference is being held in association with Mackay Hannah and will bring together key players from the Scottish home building industry and associated professions to examine the issues that lie ahead for the housing sector in Scotland tackling carbon reduction and climate change. Green, sustainable housing is high on the agenda in Scotland, but what is the best way forward, what are the funding options available? The objective of the conference is to promote understanding about what the challenges and opportunities are and to help develop the future agenda: from the strategic overview to policy in practice through to the carbon reduction possibilities and reducing fuel poverty. The conference will be supported by a range of members of Homes for Scotland and is expected to attract a large audience from across all sectors associated with the house building industry, its suppliers and associated professional advisors. Other speakers confirmed for the event include Philip Hogg, Chief Executive, Homes for Scotland; Susan Torrance, Chief Executive, Highland Housing Alliance; Dr Mohammed Imbabi, Senior Lecturer, University of Aberdeen and Ian Williams, Chairman, Campbell Dallas LLP.
